Community Foundation for Northern Ireland Director Avila Kilmurray with the new book.
New Book Charts Foundation History
A new book has been published which charts the first three decades of the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland.
Then – Now – The Future: Learning as we go 1979-2012 has been published to coincide with the huge European Foundations Conference, taking place at venues across Belfast this week.
Its author, Foundation Director Avila Kilmurray, is delighted to finally see the book in print, as it was a labour of love stretching back over the last year.
She said; “This book is a colourful illustration of the incredible history of our Foundation since its establishment in 1979.
“Much has changed in Northern Ireland since then, not least the flourishing of the peace process and a return to devolution, but the activities of the Foundation in recent years remain true to its original ethos and core principles of supporting community development through philanthropy.
“It is such a thrill to be able to launch the book at one of the biggest sessions of the European Foundation’s Conference this week, in a room packed with philanthropists and those interested in strategic, intelligent giving.
“A copy will be presented to each of the conference delegates.
“There are a few people whose help really made the project the success it is – not least our very able editor, Paddy Logue and Monina O’Prey and my deepest thanks go to them both for their hard work and effort.”
