The Search Project
South East Antrim Resourcing Conflict - Hope (SEARCH) is an EU Funded empowerment initiative focussed on the geographical area taking in the Newtownabbey, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Antrim Borough Council zones.
After nearly 40 years of conflict, around 2,000 ex-combatants and political ex-prisoners reside in the area, suffering generally from a lack of social capital and capacity, with attendant health and education difficulties.
SEARCH will develop and deliver a community based social, educational and cultural programme to provide clients with knowlege, information and skills to help reduce social exclusion and build stability.
A special Advisory Panel has been established to monitor and direct the work of the Project.
