09 March 2010 Stepping from prisons into peace
Groups engaged in the Prison to Peace Partnership have published a new magazine outlining their work.
Steps – From Prison to Peace highlights activities undertaken over the past 18 months, focussed on work to promote active citizenship, social change leadership and conflict transformation.
The groups involved are concerned for the welfare of former political prisoners aligned to the Provisional IRA, the Official IRA, the UVF, UDA and INLA.
All groups are engaged in the Prison to Peace Partnership, administrated by the Community Foundation and part financed by the European Union's European Regional Development Fund, through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (Peace III), managed by the Special EU Body.
A mix of documentary pieces on Partnership members' activity and personal reflections from contributors, the first edition has commentary from Irish News columnist Roy Garland and Northern Ireland Commissioner for Human Rights, Monica McWilliams.
