Fair Share
Between 2004 and 2009 the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland distributed £2.25m to 49 electoral wards across Northern Ireland. These awards went to communities that had been seen not to have their 'Fair share' of Lottery money. Under the Fair Share Programme a selection of projects across Northern Ireland demonstrated their ability to develop new skills, take ownership of the projects, negotiated with other stakeholders and formed new partnerships to improve the lives and circumstances of individuals and their communities. The Fair Share Trust adopted a new approach to grant making using the Consensus approach which drew all stakeholders together to agree how the money could make the greatest impact within their communities. Using the themes of people over 60, young people (14-25) and families with young children, the programme tried to reach those in most need. Watch the DVD below which illustrates some of the work undertaken by local communities and the lessons learnt. ( You will need Adobe Flash Player Installer)
